windows vista mail

    ok any help would be grateful got a rely who is having problems with the loggin in widows vista mail it seems to be not saving her user name and password. i have been through the mail client set up with her several times and no matter how many times you put them in and tick the remember pass word check box when you close and press the send and receive button it fails to connect and ask to check these details and when we check the account settings again the username and password area is blank.
    if anyone else has had this problem and could shed some light on a fix this would be a great help:confused:confused

    hmm, ok - im getting 2 signals from your post, maybe you could clear it up for me.

    can you successfully login? but then - when you try to visit it again your logged out?

    or is it not logging you in at all - and then not remembering the details?

    sorry i didn't think it was that confusing.problem is its is not logging in at all her email program that comes with vista not sure if it is like xp's outlook express as i am not familiar with windows vista but the set up process is the same in the account details you put in your user name and password tick the box to remember these details it should save them,there's the problem it wont save the details and when you press send and receive it keeps prompting to check the details again.she was having no problems until yesterday,she went to check her mail and it kept failing,she also spent several hours on the phone with her internet provider trying to sort this out and still has no resolution.i was hoping someone here may know a fix rather than having to either reinstall her email program or doing a system restore.thanks in advance for any help.

    hmm, ive done a little research and 2 things come to mind.

    either some how the account has gotten corrupted - which is unlikely but possible, and therefore you should delete the account in the windows mail program, then restart the program - and create the account again.

    or

    your Antivirus is interfering with it, you could try turning off the function to scan emails in your AV program and see if it is that?

    yes i have already tried those two remedies the first thing i thought of was their antivirus .i have read in the past that vista has had some issues with some programs and they use trend antivirus but switching off the email scanner and also shutting down the whole program didn't resolve the issue,also did the delete the account and restarted the computer and reset up the account still no go
    i think i will run her through the other two options and see how things go thanks for you input and have a great day.
