   my brother got this new update for windows vista, but when he tries to update it, it fails and gives an error with the error code 8024200d

   it says its 1 important update for windows vista.
   
   yes i did read throuth the troubleshooting and it was no help.
   
   all other updates have installed with no problem besides this one

   Whats its KB number?
   
   As some get offered at times that are not applicable to your version of Vista, so to test this get the manual download of this KB update and install ( type the KB number into the search box on Microsoft Downloads page to find the download eg KB941649 ), it will either install and fix the errant message from Windows Update or it will fail with a message like " This update is not applicable to your system" or similar.
