I attained the windows security virus yesterday and reinstalled my Vista Operating system. My computer did not come with a device driver disk. I can not connect to my wireless network at all now. I have a feeling it has something to do with my wireless driver but all i can find is my local area connection. Any help would be appreciated.

    Gateway: model #t-6330u

    Hi

All the drivers for your model Gateway are HERE

From this list install the Intel Chipset driver HERE first and reboot.

Then really need to know what version of WiFi hardware you have as that model Gateway could have come with Intel Wireless or Marvell Wireless, and aslo if your are running Vista 32bit or 64bit.

This app and guide will give some of this information to use so we can pick the correct driver for you

    Hi

Network controller should be this one HERE (this one will get you going with ethernet, the wired connection to your router modem)

and try this for your Wifi network driver HERE

    Hi

Can you connect via the ethernet port to your router ok, opposed to WiFi?

In your log Wifi hardware is not listed as an installed hardware device, so check that in you BIOS (key to enter BIOS pops up on boot of your PC, likely something like F2, Del etc) and check to see if onboard Wireless is enabled and if you have a button near the keyboard that turns on/off Wireless make sure its on (friend had this issue and it was turned off)

Once checked try this driver for Wifi HERE (another one that could be used on your PC)

    Also run this guide here

yes i can connect when wired to the router. The issue is just with Wifi. I tried to download the file that you said to try this time it told me that it did not support this operation system. I don't think the wifi is enabled and not sure how to fix that. I do have that switch on the side turned on it was the first thing that i checked because i have done that before myself :) it is on was not the problem

    Hi

The new log is also not listing a Wifi device, so if you can enter the BIOS and check that Wireless networking is enabled that should help, also in Device Manager do you now have any devices listing with a yellow ! mark?

Last driver to try that may have come on your PC is this HERE

Outside thing is wifi is broken.

the only device with a yellow! is the network controller. also i'm not sure about what to check in the BIOS. I can get the computer in BIOS but not sure what i'm looking for.

Just go through all the menus and look for something like Onboard Device Configuration and then the WiFi (WAN) or Wireless Network, couldnt be more specific as many BIOS menus are different I'm afraid.

Is this Gateway still under warranty?
I would call Gateway up and see what their support think as the drivers we/you have installed are the correct ones, but the hardware logs are not listing any Wifi device.
