Windows Vista Validation

    Hey Guys,
    Umm..First time I've posted on this section. My brothers computer was turned off correctly(Start--Shutdown etc.). But when we returned home and he started his up it said:
    You will no longer receive notifications, including about your license or activation. Use the link below to find out how to fix your system.
    The button says Learn more online. So I clicked the button(could i have screwed it up by doing that?) It popped up a Firefox browser and took me to:
    www.microsoft.com/genuine/validate/....0.000.00.1033&RFM=2&LegitCheckError=C004D401
    The page said: Windows Validation in progress. After awhile the pop-up windows comes back up saying about how you will no longer receive notifications.
    Please help:cry

    This may not be a malware problem. It also could be. Has anyone been making modifications/tweaks to Windows. The best way for us to know if it is due to malware is for you to run the below cleaning procedure:

    No tweaks/mods.
    Can I run that if I don't have access to his account?

    Well you could run it from another user account but that will not provide all the info required related to his account.

    Why can't you get into his account? What happens? Can you access it in safe boot mode if not in normal boot mode?

    Hi,
    I ran Malwarebytes, and it ended up with like 13 infected files after a full scan. They turned out to be Adware. I "quarantined/removed" them and it seems to be in proper working order as of late.

    You're welcome. If you find that you are still having problems, be sure to complete ALL of the READ & RUN ME and then attach all of the requested logs.
