I just upgraded to Vista Home premium ( I know why?) well just because I can and I wanted to LOL ;) I wanted to play around with it and see what the big deal is. Anyway are any of you using it yet? Have you had any problems? I have already (no surprise there) IE7 will not work but firefox does, All my files are moved around and some are gone (buried somwhere in the system I am sure) but who knows and other stuff. I upgraded from my current OS Media Center to the home premium. Any ideas as to why IE7 does not work I get an error that pops up immediately saying "RUNTIME ERROR abnormal program termination" Thanks for your help in advance. ALso any tips and tricks you can throw my way greatly appreciated. :)

I am using it and liking it, although there is significant driver lag.

As for the IE7, have you tried going to start->all programs->accessories->system tools and choosing "IE no add-ons mode"? If that works, try going to tools, internet options, program tab, manage add-ons, and disable stuff a little bit at a time until you figure out which one is the problem.

If that does not work, I would try safe mode with networking (reboot, tap F8). Also, uninstall toolbars.

    Best of luck!

You always risk something going wrong with an upgrade. I suggest your back up your files and do a clean install. If you only have an upgrade version of Vista, you can get around it and do a clean install by following these directions. That being said, I've been using Vista Home Premium and I love it. Everyone has different opinions on it though.

I am using a trial of Windows Vista, I set it up on a spare system I had, not my normal system. I wasn't ready for that. So far so good though, no crashes, no apps that I use that haven't worked yet. Only complaint is that when I need to change some settings, I always get the prompt asking me if I want to continue. The prompt doesn't bug me, its the time it takes for the thing to come up. My screen turns dark and the prompt doesn't show till about 7 or 8 seconds later. It should be faster. Other than that it feels the same as XP to me. It feels like I just loaded a new theme on XP and it looks like Vista. I can't really justify paying $400 dollars for it though, not right now anyway.

I tried the beta, I can't afford to buy Vista and new hardware right now. Maybe in a few months.

I just bought a new laptop last weekend with Vista Premium and I agree that it just looks like Win XP, there doesn't appear to be an appreciable difference in operation. The first connection to the internet required it to download a whole slew of updates from MS for Vista, which I didn't expect so soon! There are a number of niggles though and the settings that I was familiar with are buried elsewhere in Vista's set-up. However, it seems that Vista will be replaced by the next offering from MS in a few years.

Check out http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=117443 for news on MS Vienna OS, scheduled for 2009. :D

Just heard on the radio that MS are not happy with the sales of Vista.
    Wonder why? :D
Too expensive, too many versions, confusion over Upgrades versus Full versions, manufacturers lagging behind in new drivers, etc. Bazza

I bought Vista last year and ran it for a couple of weeks but just did not like it so went back to XP pro and the vista disk makes a great stand for my coffee.

i had no problems with it and won't say it's a bad product just not for me.
