Windows Wont Update

After using Windows 10 I found and at it took my hidden partition out and lost my preinstalled software.. After much agrevation I managed to get back to Windows 7, but Windows will not update automatically. I have tried Microsoft and their fixes as well as a number of CMD lines, but still it will not work. I have just tried Tweeking.com repair and that hasn't worked either. Can anyone suggest a programe that will fix it?

 

Take a look through this topic, it has a lot of info, try the MS 'fix' from my post first, it might be the easiest.

 

When you download the KB installers from that fix, you may need to use IE but, if you haven't updated to IE 11, you may need to do that first. I did.

 

IE shouldn't be a requirement for downloading those files, even the Windows Update Catalog site redirects to a browser agnostic version now http://www.catalog.update.microsoft.com/Home.aspx.

I've just tried the download windows catalogue and that wont run either. I'm getting very frustrated with this now

 

Try it with BITS and Windows Updates Services both disabled via Run > services.msc, then reboot and try again. If that fails, re-enable both Services (set to Automatic and Start them) and try again.

We really need more details, error messages, etc, to stand a better chance of providing you with something more specific to your exact problems.

I'd just like to thank you all for the help in this. I finally found a program Fix WU from Major Geeks and it solved the problem. Now I can carry on putting the software back on
