Windows Wont Update...

Lately, I've been having some pretty bad issues with my old 98 install, and the hard drive was dying off slowly. So, I replace the hard drive, stick a brand new install of Windows 2000 on it and start my system over again. Everything was going excellent until I remember I needed to update.

I open Windows Update, scan for updates and boom, I get slapped in the face by this:

On the taskbar, double-click the time.
Verify that the date and time is correct.

So I figured hm since I can't update maybe I can do it manually, I'll just stick SP4 on and go from there. Well I get the SP4 wizard and it begins to connect to d\l the SP, and times out saying the server isnt responding.

I tried quite a few things so far, and nothing works.

Ive gone over every page I could find on the error, tried to repair IE, I downloaded the High Encryption Pack, I've restored default security settings, added microsoft to the trusted sites.

Anyone know whats going on?

 

I'ts definately not the time, date or time zone, I'm sure of that, checked bios' time as well. Its all the same...

 

Wndows update Error 0x800c0008 after upgrading windows 2kpro FROM windows98... I try to install service pack 4 (SP4) but no go. I get the above error when clicking windows update and scanning for updates...
Can anyone help?

R. Register the following system files
Click Start > Run
Type “regsvr32 softpub.dll” (w/o quotes)
Press OK
Repeat the above steps for the following:
regsvr32 wintrust.dll
regsvr32 initpki.dll
regsvr32 dssenh.dll
regsvr32 rsaenh.dll
regsvr32 gpkcsp.dll
regsvr32 sccbase.dll
regsvr32 slbcsp.dll
regsvr32 cryptdlg.dll


I went over that page and saw this was about the only thing I hadn't tried, so I tried it. It worked!@# I've been stressing over this for two days and was preparing a format as I speak, but my gut told me to check here once more first. Thanks a ton, I'm sticking that page in my favorites.
