windows xo disk clean up

Hi all does anybody know why the windows xp disk clean up
utility should develop a fault it has been alright for
the past 18 months many thanks

When you click on disk clean up the box comes up in the middle of the screen as usual it then attempts to work and then after the 3 lines stops working can not think of any think else that could cause ths problum
