I just built a new computer using the Athlon 64. I am currently running Windows XP Pro SP2 on this system, but I also downloaded Windows XP 64 - SP1 and am wondering if there are any advantages to switching to this OS instead of WinXP Pro. I can get most of my hardware drivers in 64-bit extensions, but will this help overall system performance for gaming? Most games are still only written in 32-bit, but could I get a performance increase by changing OS?

To summarise. ITs not worth upgradeing yet. I have used it a bit at work, i see no speed increases, 32bit apps run a little slower, the drivers you can download seem to be buggy.

Half my games dont even run. And as for 64bit apps..there are virtually none yet
