Windows 64bit edition was recently released for processors that use 64bit technology, such as the latest Intel Pentium 4 64bit processors or the Athlon 64 range.
Basically, the 64bit edition is supposed to be more powerful and run smoothly, for power users. However, it isn't advised that one would upgrade now because there aren't many software applications that are suitable for running with a 64bit edition of windows.

    Hope this helps :)

You have windows xp service pack 2 so it's 32 bits.

If you asking if your computer support it the answer is yes...

    Yes to 32bit Windows XP

but not nesassarily to 64bit Windows XP as the Dell Dimension 4600 doesnt as far as I searched come with a 64bit cpu ( not noticed a P4 3.06ghz thats in the lineup of EMT64bit http://www.intel.com/products/processor/pentium4/index.htm ) as standard or as an option, one way to check your cpu is to use CPUZ http://majorgeeks.com/CPU-Z_d425.html or Intels own CPU PIU app http://support.intel.com/support/processors/tools/piu/

In CPUZ in the L1 cache and L2 cache it says line size: 64 bytes, so it's that the 64bit windows xp??? and also what advantages does 64bit windows xp have over 32bit windows xp?

No thats the inbuilt cache on the cpu, you would need to see EMT64 in the info,, actually one program that will do this easily for yuo and I forgot about it was Everest ( link below ), as you cpu is a 3.06 Its most likely to be a 32bit cpu as Intel as far as I know didnt release a 64 bit 3.06 processor.

Advantage, as McAdam said above if the software is compatible with 64bit ( which their is not much available that this time mind )
    links and info
    http://majorgeeks.com/EVEREST_Home_Edition_d4181.html EVEREST
to find info on cpu click Motherboard > CPU ID and you should see a tick in 64bit x86 extention ( AMD64 EMT64 ) and listed as supported if its not then you have a 32bit cpu
