Windows XP complete install...

OK going to do a complete install after reformat. Guess the question is How do I know for sure that computer is CD bootable? I'v been in to the BIOS and seen
floppy is 1 something else is second and cd-rom is 3rd in bootable order.

Also thinking about just reinstalling XP.. But I know this will put 2 version on computer. Is 1 gig of freespace enought? Reason is I can't get in to XP now to back up. Stops at user sign in page with no users to click Just a mouse curser to move around

any Idea's or answers would be great

First question:

Check your bios boot order. If you cans et the first boot device as CD, it most likely can boot to CD.

Second question:

No, thats not enough space. You are short half a gig.

 

if you are going to install xp you can install it over your exsisting OS, it will tell you it's already detected another OS there and do you want to install over it or create a new partion for it
if you put your cd in cd tray and boot up it should auto run and detect it anyway if not change boot sequence in BIOS to boot from cd first

 

And after you install, go here and make XP run real good.

Going to try "Recovery Console" to see if I can get any farther .
