    Hi and welcome to MG's,

How exactly are you doing your fresh install ?? is it with the original install disc or are you using the recovery partition ?? when you do your install are you doing a full format (totally wiping the drive prior to install).
The more inf you can give us the quicker the response ;) we will also need the make and model of your machine and what service pack that your install is at.
It may also be that you HDD is faulty I would advise that you run the manufacturers diagnostics tools for that drive to see if it has any bad sectors and if they can be repaired.

    On finding the HD diagnostic:

Go to Computer>right-click the C: drive and select Properties. On the Hardware tab you should see the name of your HD. Seagate/Maxtor or WD (Western Digital) are the common ones, which brand do you have?

If your OS disc is not been read correctly or if there are infact corrupt files, try burning a new copy of it with this tool......

and try a new install with the one you have just created.

But I still stand by that you must run the HDD Diagnostic tool for your drive. You can remove the drive also to see who the manufacturer is . It may well be worth cleaning and reseating your Ram modules also, to clean them use an eraser or an alcohol wipe on the gold contacts and reseat them firmly back into thier slots.
