When I log onto my PC a new screen appears during the start up process. After all the black screens (with white writing) and before the log in screen for the users to log in, I get a blue screen with white writing on it. This started 6 days ago. The screen says that "... program cannot be found - Auto Checkup Cancelled". In place of the ellipsis (...) there are what I assume are the names of programmes; they are not logical English just a series of letters. One begins iolo but I uninstalled any Iolo software I had a long time ago. Is this screen a problem? Everything seems to be working fine. It is an annoyance. I would like to know though why it might have come about and if there is any to get rid of it. Thanks!

This is the BSOD (blue screen of death)
It's helpful if you write down the words and the first series of numbers because that identifies the type of error. It will start 0x000000## the last two ## are the important letter/number info. There will also be three other alphanumeric strings inside the parentheses; you don't need to bother with those. The one in front of the parentheses is the one that we search for.

I am not sure that it is, because the BSOD reports a critical system error and I don’t think this is. The PC works fine, it’s almost as if it’s just saying this was “skipped”. But, what was skipped I don’t know.

There are NO numbers and in my original post I gave the entire message that appears because I do appreciate that in order to provide help you need to know what error messages say.

Check the stuff in the startup...

    Click on Start>Run...

    type in "msconfig" (without quotations)

In the System Configuration window, click on Diagnostic Startup. Click ok, and restart your computer. If the "weird" stuff still pops up then you might have some other issues with windows, might need to know what exactly is popping up to figure out what it is and how to get rid of it.
