Windows XP does not boot!

Here's the story.

I got on my computer and the Norton was disabled. The message on the Norton said it had been corupted and directed me to un-install Norton and then re-install. The computer froze during the un-install.

I manually turned the computer off. When I tried to re-boot the computer it gets to the Windows XP logo, then goes to a blue screen for a split-second and try's to re-boot again. (this process keeps repeating).

It will not allow me to boot in safe mode.

I need help?

 

Sounds like you need to repair your XP installation. By turning off your computer while it was in the process of uninstalling Norton, you probably damaged/corrupted your registry. Boot with your XP CD in the computer, and go all the way to the installation setup screen. There you should be given the option to install or repair the current installation. Choose repair and don't panic as it will look like the regular installation screen. Let the process finish and you should be good to go.

You know...one of the first things I do when I use xp, is turn off "Automatically restart" within the Startup and recovery, of system properties, advanced.

This way we can see what actual error is coming up. Also, we could use the recovery console to fix this issue.

For this situation, I'd say a repair installation.as Novice suggested.
