Has anyone gotten the "WMI has encountered a problem and needs to close" error just randomly in Windows? Is this related to the Windows install? Installation of sp1 or sp2? or the lack of installing sp1 or 2? Thanx

Tough one, I am reading that this could be a spyware or virus related issue. Please run our tutorial, and see if it helps http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=35407 . Optionally, I have read some fixed it via system restore, but I highly doubt it.

Yeah, It's probably a virus or malware problem, may even be that other system services are clashing with each other. How about a Windows CD repair? Just because I'm so lazy :p guess you can only try it will try some of the stuff listed in the tutorial though. I actually encountered the problem on a PC not connected to the internet. It just started popping up when I booted it this afternoon, and I haven't installed anything new recently either..
