Recently when XP does anything the estimated time is way off. A job which only took 2 mins gave an estimated time of 32 mins and when I copied a CD it gave a time of 59mins remaining when it only took 20 mins. What is going on?

Take all the times with a pinch of salt, estimates are just what the word means, many variables exist, if downloading from the internet the download time varies dependent on the network or server loads, same as burning a cd once the copy program has assessed the quality and speed rating of your blank ( various makes burn at different speeds and do not always burn at the max rated speed ) it adjusts the estimated time, so while the initial time may be high once started it reduces to a more normal timing.
