    Hi y'all,

This morning I deleted two folders from "Favorites" that were not needed and in the way. If I display the contents of "Favorites" via My Computer, these two folders are not displayed, indicating that they have in fact been deleted.

However, when I try to "send to" Favorites, it keeps asking me which of these two folders I want to file the new material in. I tried to ignore it, but apparently the files I am trying to "send to" MUST be placed into one of these folders; i.e. there is no way to bypass these two "ghost" folders.

I did a cold reboot, but the problem persists.

Why are these deleted folders still being displayed (only when doing "send to,") and how can I get rid of them for good?

    adTHANKSvance for your help!

Every User Account has its own Favorites folder, and I'm wondering if these two folders aren't in the All Users or Default User Favorites folder, rather than in your own user account's Favorites.

Have another look in My Computer.

Thank you, Earthling (love that moniker!).

In My Computer, "All Users" is blank.
"User" (the other user that is not applicable to what I'm trying to do) has several files but no folders.
"Work" (the user that is applicable to this issue) has two files and NO folders (previously it did, but as I said I have deleted those).

So that is not the issue; the folders have most definitely been deleted but are still coming up when trying to "Send to."

Do you have any other suggestions?

Yep. Go to C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\SendTo and delete the folders there.

    Good luck ;)

nicked the moniker from David Bowie, but he hasn't objected :D

    That did the trick!!!

Now I have another problem: The folders that I copied from stick into "Favorites" are not showing up in "Favorites" while I'm in IE, but they are listed in "Favorites" under My Computer. I know they copied over because some are large and I had to wait as the little "flying paper" icon did its thing. I know that I copied them in the right place because there are two loose files (from before, not part of this addition) in IE that are also displayed in My Computer.

Do you have any ideas, Earthling, as to why this is happening?

If you've copied them to the right place I don't have an answer. Sorry.

The significance of this only struck me after I'd retired for the night. Favorites are very small files containing only a hyperlink to a web page or a shortcut to a folder on your computer. They are therefore never large.

Are these large items acually files of some sort, rather than shortcuts? If so then they won't appear in IE, and do not belong in the Favorites folder.
