I'm just curious about the font/color of some of the windows xp sp2 files on my computer. When I click on windows in explorer, the file list starts with $hf_mig$ it's listed in the regular black font. Next on the list is $MSI31Uninstall_KB893803$ it is listed in blue font. That goes on for the next 30 or so files with similar names. The addins folder is the next folder with the regular font/color. Same thing in the system32 folder. There's a folder inside it named dllcache. It's the only file in that folder with the different font/color. All the files in it are blue too.

I'm not really having any problems, it just seems strange to me. Is this normal? Thanks

To add onto what Kodo said.

Color coding of filenames in XP:

    black--non compressed, non encrypted files.
    blue--NTFS compressed files.
    green--EFS encrypted files.

The reason you see blue names here and there is that XP compresses certain files/folders that arent normally used to save space. When they are needed, they are decompressed on the fly very quickly.
