Windows XP fresh install madness

:tas ok , I borrowed a Win XP Pro disk from my uncle and have been trying to install it onto a new Hard drive (( former went out after 6 great years )) and I have had nothing but problems from it. This is my forth and most successful install yet. That is not saying much though. It will not allow start up programs to run 1/2 the time and will not allow installs in normal mode. :tas

In safe mode I have been able to run window defender, avira, spybot, and avast. As well as the regcleaner from Majorgeeks. As well as a WONDERFUL uninstaller!

Some of the problems include; windows randomly shutting down any and all programs whenever it wants to, as well as randomly restarting. When I go to My Computer, right click, properties>> hardware>> and click device manager to view my drivers I get < Class Not Registered> and an [Ok] to close message. I have tried going thru Run using devmgmt.msc. Same message appears.

I have checked the Ram using MS's win diag tools. As well as taking apart the entire computer - minus the MB and power supply and reseating/fitting all the connections. ~ Still to no avail.

I have been told to see about using a torrent to download a pre cracked version of Win XP pro and making it official using my code ~ any ideas or websites recommended??

Thank you I followed the link and I have a CoA, so my key is valid. Im wondering if the disk is coded for his key vs mine. (( unsure if it is possible or not )) I am able to download MS's genuine validation tools and it allows updates from the website ~ all except sp3 which will download, verify and run 3/4 of the way just to error out and restart my comp. ~ Im at my wits end trying to figure this out. Is there a program or website that has a file checking service or some type of scan that can say ~ Hey this is what is messed up ~ I have done check disks ~ I have run the windows xp cd's repair utility and have even formatted ~ long 2 hour version ~ and restarted the process just to have the system come out with some kind of quirk ~

 

Is this an OEM (HP, Dell, etc.) disc, or an off the shelf, store purchased version of Windows?

It is an off the shelf version. I built the computer about 6 years ago. The hard drive went out and I am trying to get it running again with a new one. k8usa black dragon ultra. with an AMD 64 proccesor. 1g 400mhz ram atm. 320 g seagate hd. HD3850 sapphire vc ddr3 512 mb. standard cd and dvd slots. anything else i can put up to aid?
