Windows XP from Computer to Laptop ?

i would like to know if its possible to copy Windows XP from my computer over to my laptop.
my computer is emachines T2240 that came with windows XP. the only CD that i know of having with the computer is the restore CD which when used to restore will restore everything including Windows XP.
i just recently bought a used laptop Toshiba Techra 8000 which came with Windows 98. i didnt get a CD or even a booklook when i bought the laptop.
i was told to go to the Toshiba website to find out more about the laptop and how it works, but im still confused after going to the site, but thats not what im thinking about right now.
it would be nice to have Windows XP on this laptop.
im assuming the restore CD for the computer wont work on the laptop so i havnt tried that.
but isnt there a program/programs currently on my computer that i can copy and transfer over to my laptop giving it windows XP? or do i have to actually go and buy a copy of Windows XP? and if so will it work on this laptop?

The recovery CD has specific drivers for the eMachine computer you own, and would cause problems with the laptop, it might not even work. Also, you will have to buy another license and product code that comes with it for the laptop too, if you plan on using both computers, anything else is piracy. There are people who could help get the laptop running satisfactorily with 98 if you don't want to buy another copy of XP or shutdown the desktop and let it go to waste.
