Ok, my first posts here were about problems with xp pro. I had issues with it closing all my programs randomly and restarting just as randomly. reinstalled xp pro x5 + and kept having the same issues. so I bit the bullet and bought xp home off of newegg and reformatted my new hard drive ~ 320g seagate. ntfs - long format. and now the installation keeps frezzing or randomly restarts ! HELP !!! im at my wits end with this.
it has a new video card and hard drive but otherwise is all the same equipment as it was before the old hard drive bit the dust. same ram. processor ~ the heat sink on the processor is new but i dont see how that could be an issue. any hints / tips or hey try this is welcome ! thanks ~ Kat the Rogue.

There could be number of problems your new Grapic card might not compatable
or your pc cant handle the power usage or it could be over heating. But it sounds like to me i could be a power problem you dont have the juice to run the newer stuff. But if any one eles whants to add any thing please do so.

also as an update, xp home ~ will not complete installation. it continues to the screen where it has the 5 dots on the left hand side. it stops at 24 mins of installation. the title is "completing installation* and the green bar is 75% of the way done ~ it has been in this state for 55 mins and the mouse moves fine and the right side keeps changing * xp is great* these are the new features * blah blah blah ~ i removed all but one stick of ram (1g stick) and reinstalled the old video card. and i am attempting the 3rd *clean* installation again. clean meaning i did the long ntfs format at the beginning with the partiotion manager. on a side note ~ i divided my 320 g hard drive into 2 equal partitions C: & D: ~ smart or bad? thanks for all help and comments. :tas Kat the Rogue
