    Hello, I'm Irishsleep

I'm helping a friend fix her computer, and this is the process that I went about.

1st. sent the error report from a system restart (happens often), got back the feedback, said the video card driver needed to be updated, or hardware acceleration turned down. I believe it was a stuck thread in device error.

2nd. downloaded latest nvidia driver, no dice, keeps restarting.

3rd. replaced video card with mine, brought in another sound card to rule that out. No Dice. also latest sound card driver wouldn't load.

4th. Moved memory to different slots. No dice same thing.

Have run system mechanic 7 pro completely, have run ccleaner, i'm at my wits end, and the lady really doesn't want to reformat, even though i've suggested this to her several times. I have a hijack this report. But I'm unsure about the posting rules on this. Anyone got any ideas?

    Thanks

Take it from one who's been there...convince the lady to reformat the HD...after back up of course. It was the only recourse I had to fix many issues I was having at the time..that and an upgrade in my OS didnt hurt either...sure beat having to shell out for a new PC. I backed up on an external HD so all my docs are accessable if I need them. And taking off all the "crap" helped considerably. Good Luck
