Windows XP installation disc

Hey all,
I want to re-install windows XP on my computer but I'm having a little trouble as the new thing seems to be computer manafacturers not shipping an installation disc with new computers (which also makes it hard to wipe all the bundled crap they pre-install AOL/Norton 30-day etc).

So how do I re-install XP, will any installation disc do so long as I use the key code from the sticker on my tower? If so where can I get/downlaod one?

Thanks rogvalcox, the real reason I wanted to re-install was because the computer is so loaded with viruses that it wouldnt even boot up. So i can't create a Windows CD (I will keep that page for future reference though).

There is nothing of great importance on there so a fresh install of windows is probably the best and easiest thing. Is there any other way I can get a fresh installation of XP? Thanks again

You will need a copy of the OEM version you presently have in order for your "sticker key" to work. You should have had the option of making a restore CD when you first fired up, if you did that you can reformat your drive and use the restore CD to reload Windows XP plus the CR*p that they want installed. Then you can get PC-Decrapifier here from Major Geeks and get rid of the vendors garbage. Hope that helps

 

Most newer pc's will directly boot into the restore partition, most is f11 while booting up, if not f11 it will show you the right key on your splash screen at boot up. ed
