Windows XP key

    Ive decided to format my laptop, which is presently in computer lala land. Big problem is that although i can find my XP disc, i cant find the key to go with it. Will Microsoft replace it over the phone, the same as when you change hardware, or will i have to buy a new copy?

    They will replace it for a small fee, if you can prove ownership and I believe, if it was registered.

    Call them and ask.

    Small fee=10 dollars.

    There's a program listed under "Misc." called RockXP 3.0 that can retrieve your keys, according to the description- I never tried it, but I trust this site ;)

    Those programs will only work if you haven't allready formated your pc.

    Are you sure there is not a Product Key sticker on the bottom of your laptop?
