Windows XP MCE 2005 OEM (HP) - computer starts with BSOD Stop Error (0x0000007b, 0x0f78e524, 0x00000034)

My computer is a HP Pavillion m7680n with dual boot Windows/Ubuntu shows the Stop error message as above when trying to boot into WinXP, however, booting into Ubuntu is still possible. Is there a way that I can repair this from Ubuntu? Does the fact that I have a dual boot (GRUB) setup make things worse.

I have tried: Booting from the recovery DVD but they report a file missing
I can boot into Acronis Disk Director Recovery but am not sure how to fix the error as the disk drives are mixed up. System has 2 HD of 250 megs each partitioned into 4 partitions.
Also booted from a previous copy of XP Home same error message.

I believe that one of the intel drivers has been corrupted as it seems Windows does recognise the drives.

All files appear to be still on the drive if I view the tree in Ubuntu

I can boot using a USB drive (option's there in the CMOS) if that's a solution

Thank you for any help or insight you can bring as I try to fix this problem.
