Windows XP not using Acer monitor drivers with KVM switch

    I got sick of crawling under my PC to switch my keyboard and mouse every time I want to work on my 2nd PC, so I got a KVM switch box.

    Now, this all worked when I had the monitor plugged directly into the PC. But once I put the switch box in, I got different display resolution choices, and none of them are widescreen. It's seeing this as a "Default Monitor" instead of as my Acer. (I'm trying to get it so I can view things at 1440x900)

    The switch box is a Belkin Omniview 4 port ps/2 model #F1D066 (yeah, I know, old as dirt, but it was in the basement and therefore free.)

    My PC is running Windows XP.

    My monitor is a Acer AL1916W (I have the drivers for this, I just don't know how to instal them, or specify them, or whatever it takes to get the computer to understand that I want to use them).

    My graphics card is Intel(R) Graphics Media Accelerator.

    I would be incredibly appreciative if anyone could help me get my display to a point where it is proportionate.

    ::edit::
    this is all for the 1st PC, the 2nd PC I'm not worried about yet as it doesn't have an operating system yet (I'm going to be putting some flavor of linux on it)
