I've recently ran into a big problem i think. I reformated my computer and i partitioned 2.5 gigs on drive c:\ for windows only. I thought this would be good to run windows on c:\ and the rest of my programs on d:\. Well i went to update windows and my c:\ drive is almost out of space, i have 100 megs left on it so i cancelled the update. Is there anything I can do besides reformat yet again? or do i need to install windows onto d:\? or what? please help. my d:\ is 25 gigs btw, i have a 28 gig harddrive or so total

Oh boy, 2.5GB is really small. I ran with 5gb for a long time and never had a problem. However before you reformat, check to see if you have hibernate on as that will use the same space as your total RAM, you can reduce your system restore space as it uses %12 of your drive space for that and you can change the drive on which the paging file is stored. The alternative is to buy a partition manager but for the same price you can get a new drive and have all the space you need, which at 10GB partition for XP gives you lots of room and you won't have to change any settings.

Do a search under 'partition' on the Homepage. There seem to be a number of free programs that you can use to repartition your HD.

I don't know if u read my whole message, I said I HAVE A 28 GIG hardrive. I have 1 harddrive on my labtop. I made a 2.5 gig martition for drive c:\ (windows, and the other for d:\ games. But i have 28 gigs of space on my computer in total. Windows just seems to not like to run with only 2.5 gigs. I don't understand your solution to this problem, please explain.

A re-partition program should allow you to enlarge C:\ by reducing the size of D:\.

Explore the threads at the bottom of this page and do a search here for 'partition', your problem has been covered by others who know a lot more than me.
