    Hello all,

I am new to this site. I found quite a good stuff here before and thanks for that.

I am running windows xp pro, SP3, updated , I have 3 hdd in the system (one is extern usb) as a backup. I have comodo FW pro, and Avast; recently I removed Windows defender because after program update it stopped updating the definition files and I had to do it manually. I operate with created account (as administrator)

I recently installed Dec-c++ with (complete c and c++ compiler). All went well no errors ect. However when I tried to run it with simple 'Hello world' I found that the program ends straight away, and the log file says 'Access is denied'.
The compiler front end run in windows interface but the components are ms-dos.

That is when I found that when I enter dos box I have 'Access is denied' regardless what I do. Did all the tricks with permissions, ownership ect. I logged as the Administrator proper to no avail. I have no access to any file in the dos box full stop.

I run repair from Windows xp Pro cd - no results.

I susspect only that this "Access is denied" problem existed before the 'Dev-c++' install; I just did not need to run dos based software.

Would any kind soul have any idea what the heck is happening?

    Thanks

    Juliusz
