When I boot up my computer, a screen comes up asking me to select the operating system to use. It gives me the choice of two XP versions. Since there is only one OS on my system, I am really befuddled. Is there any way to remove this screen? (I have clicked them both -- one boots me up just fine, while the other gives me an error and tells me to reinstall XP.)

To remove the bad option, please follow the steps below:

    1. Hit windows key + r (or click start --> run)
    2. Type 'msconfig' (without the quotes)
    3. Press enter (or click ok)
    4. Select the 'boot.ini' tab

Here, you will see a line that corresponds to the erroneous value in your boot options menu. Delete it, and you won't see it again!
