windows xp product key

    My son bought a Hp pavillion PC with windows xp on it. He got a set of recovery disks but no product key with the disks. Is there a place that we can find this procuct key in the pc. Please help me He has a virus on the pc and we are afraid he might not be able to reinstall without it, if we have to format it... any help will be greatly appreciated... thanks Bill

    For starters, you may not have to reformat. Try an online test from www.pcpitstop.com or www.symantec.com . This will identify the culprit. As for product key, just phone them. Good luck

    Lookingat the front of the computer, it should be on the right side. Lower right hand corner.
