Windows XP product key

Friends: I tried to change my Windows XP Pro product key and got a confirmation message that the change was successful. However, when I rebooted and checked my key, it was the same old key which would not allow me to download Windows service pack patches. Any idea how I can get around this? Thanks a lot!!!

 

Dude if i am wrong i appologize, but if you are talking about your orrigonal product key is a banned illegal one and so you cannot downlaod install service packs then you will get no help here..MGs does not condone in any shape or form illegal software, but if like i say i am worng then i am truly sorry dude.

MGs like many other sites is here to help legal issues with software/hardware and would get itself in trouble if it was any otherway.

 

Scouse: Nothing of the sort. I was OK until I upgraded my machine. I put in a new hard drive, more RAM and two new DVD drives. From then on whenever I try to download a patch from Microsoft I keep getting this "invalid product key" message.

 

Contact Microsoft and explain the situation. They may be willing to give you a replacement product key.

 

Well in that case again i appologize dude..As JP said phone M$ they wil give you a new activation key, you did to many hardware changes there for M$ needs to be told, it is there daft way of them trying to stop people installing M$ on more than one comp..It is straight forward and will take 5 minutes..
