Windows XP Professional Will Not Load.

Hello,

I am running Windows XP Professional Edition with Service Pack 1.
When I start up my computer it gets as far as the Windows XP Logo with the loading bar and then it flashes a dark blue screen and re-boots.
The only way I can access it is in safe mode (where I am now).

Does anybody have any ideas or suggestions towards how to sort out the problem?

Dave,
Try booting into safe-mode. You can do this by powering up the machine and hitting F8 before the WindowsXP splash screen loads. On the menu, choose SAFE MODE.
If it loads, then there is most likely a driver loading that is causing the reboot.

must be a bit early for you, he posted that he is actually in safe mode now

Dave. right click My Computer-Properties-Advanced-Start-up and Recovery settings-uncheck the auto restart box, and make sure the box write an event to system log is checked-Apply and OK
Reboot and hopefully next time it crashes it should give you a Blue screen, which hopefully will list the driver, app etc that is causing the problem
you should also be able to check your eventviewer for further information
Start-Run-Type eventvwr.msc-ok
