A weak PSU caused wins to crash. I replaced the PSU and the Wins xp recovery cd won't restore wins. At the end of install attempt I get an error message that wins can't see my SATA HD. The recovery disc is an OEM (SP2). Has anyone had a simular problem? It does call for a floppy in the process which I do not have. I have installed Ubuntu in the place of WINS, but I would like to have both of them partitioned. I hope someone can help me. Thanks in advance.

If Windows Setup asks for a storage driver, then you will have to supply it on a floppy disk or slipstream it into a new Windows CD or it will not be able to use your SATA HD.

What is the computer make, model and serial number? Or, what is the exact motherboard make and model? We can look for the correct driver for you.

Check the BIOS setting for the hard drive.

If necessary change it to ATA mode (ATA or IDE compatible), and you should not have any problem.
