Windows xp repair cd, am I screwed or what????

Hi ,my Pavilion ZX5060 started running all night, so I noticed power management was screwed up, then I noticed I could not access safe mode. I emailed HP support and they told me to run the Windows xp repair on the OEM cd. I did, then during the finalization a got a window saying "has not passed windows logo testing to verify its compatibility with windows xp, this software will not be installed. Contact your system administrator." then it saved settings and ended. It went to boot to windows and got stuck on the black screen with all the safe mode options, (none of them worked however), it justs keeps trying to boot normally....agh! Please tell me I don't have to format...
