windows xp service control manager help

    I have been having problems with pc,try to go to windows update and I cant download anything.I look at my error log and it says(service control manager) the specified module could not be found.I have tried microsoft as I said but my pc wont let me download .how do I fix this?? Another problem which I am sure is related ,when I go to some sites I get the message to install or allow activex control ,I click on install and it doesnt install.Thanks in advance for your help!

    I presume you're using Windows XP?

    Is this version of Windows legit?

    yes I am using xp and it is legit with sp2 .that is the weird thing when I goto windows update site it cant even read my pc
