Windows XP SHow Desktop Icon

A few days ago my show desktop icon went crazy. I have the show desktop icon in the quick launch area. The shortcut is there, and works fine, however the icon is not the usual icon. It shows the standard "windows dont know the extension" icon instead. I have tried deleting it and recreating it, with no luck. Any ideas how to get the "pretty" icon back?

Somehow your shortcut files are not getting the icon from the exe.But the shortcuts are working.
Does right click>properties>change icon get it back?

 

I thought of that as well, but it does not give me the usual change icon tab. Very strange....some of the little stupid things are what drives me nuts the most.
