I recently reformatted my laptop and reinstalled Windows XP.

Now, it has a shutdown/restart issue.

Whenever I tried to shut it down or restart it, it froze. It shuts down the program and desktop and so on, and moves to the next "screen" (light blue background) and freezes there. I remember there used to be a sound when I shut it down and also a screen saying "saving your setting", but none of these are happening when I shut down/restart it now.
Right now, I'm forcing it to turn it off by press holding the power button.

Any idea how to fix it?

    thanks,
    best,

Is CCleaner going to delete registry files/windows system files?

Last time I had a trojan virus, I went through the cleaning up steps (including CCleaner), and ntldr got deleted, and my computer started acting very weird with other symptoms....

I just want to be careful here, so won't make same mistake again...
