Windows XP Sound Problem

Please can someone come up with a soution to this predicament I have found myself in.

Everytime I sart up my desktop after a few seconds of the computer loading up I keep getting the same error message, which once has appeared all the sound on my computer stops working. The only quick solution I have found so far is to open any program (i.e. Itunes) up before the error message appears for sound to work afterwards. As you can imagine I am getting rather fed up of it now and need a long term solution.

The errror message says

Generic Host Process for Win32 Services has encountered a problem and needs to close.....

Any Help would be appreciated.

 

I would start by looking in device manager to see if their are any errors or "!" icons with your Audio Drivers.

Right Click My Computer-> Manage -> Device Manager and look at "Sound Video and Game Controllers"

See what it says and you may wish to reload your Audio Drivers.

 

Ok I have tried this and there are no obvious errors, In the past I have reinstalled my audio drivers but this is also only a short term solution as the same error message returns after restart.
