Windows Xp SP2 Clean Install Problems

I have a problem with the Windows Shut Down Menu. It displays the standard options, but Stand-by is greyed out, so it is inaccessible. I cannot put my PC to stand-by.
I have installed this copy of windows XP SP2 on two machines before and this has never occurred before. My second issue is that I am trying to create a recovery disk. My gateway's documentaion said it should be located on Start>All Programs> System Recovery> Recovery Media Creator. However since this is a windows XP clean install, I seem to be missing this from the original Pre-loaded Windows that came with my gateway.But this is a Windows feature and there should be an option somewhere to activate it, right? And finally my third issue is that when I boot up or restart my Pc with a flash drive in it, it doesn't let me load windows unless I take it off. It displays this message "Remove disks or other media. Press any key to restart"

Used this link for drivers, etc. for a Gateway machine I salvaged. Model # listed in two places on desktop tower. May be able to obtain Recovery Media Creator there as well, as I saw patches available for it.

I would try the BIOS during boot to change the boot order and rectify the flash drive problem.

Standby option is available in the Control Panel under Power Options. Could also be caused by a driver issue, in which case the Gateway link may be of some assistance. Check Control Panel, System, Hardware, Device Manager to see if there are any disabled or unknown devices as well. Hope you can work it out without to many spent shell casings. :major
