Windows XP stoped booting

Hi

My Windows XP Home stoped booting in to normal mode. I am able to boot in to safemode, but if I want to go in to and use my CD drives, there are not recogtnized. I went to Device manager and found "!" beside each CD/DVD drive. The "CMOS" recognizes the drives. The Windows XP disk I have is not a bootable disk. How can I restore my Winsows XP. I tried to restore the last good configuration in the boot menue but it didn't do any good. What else can I do?

System Restore.

Use msconfig to disable third party services and startup items.

Then try to boot.

What are the third party services that I need to be disabling?

How do I boot using /quote ?

Once Msconfig is on screen, check the Diagnostic Startup option so that just basic drivers and services startup.

then just reboot.. to see if the same is happening?

Seeing as Adryn is not here ill jump in
Disable anything listed in the start-up tab under Msconfig
Also in Msconfig under the services tab check the box to hide Microsoft services and disable anything still showing

Your second question im not quite understanding whjat you want to know can you elaborate further

When you say your XP disc is not bootable, what sort of disc is it

Also under msconfig, in the BOOT.INI tab boot obtions . can you make sure that the box is unticked for /SAFEBOOT
