So I've had some major virus problems lately and the only choice I have is to do a fresh install. I tried doing a Sysyem Recovery, but when it reboots my system to enter the recovery program, it says the the logon has failed.

I have also tried the F10 function during bootup, but that just brings me to the BIOS setup, not the recovery console like I keep reading. Am I doing something wrong, and how can I get to the recovery?

Try F2 or F12 for system recovery !

    No luck. F2 and F12 don't do a thing

It may also depend upon what type of machine: I've seen F11, Ctrl-F11, even holding down the '0' key while powering up...

What brand, model #, etc. are you trying to repair?

Wait a minute - are you trying to access the XP Recovery Console? If so, then you should boot to your XP disk, and choose Recovery Console from the options...

If you're trying to enter Safe Mode, then it's F8...
