my friend disabled some programs from starting up using services.msc but now i have 2 problems- 1. when i open task manager (control+alt+delte) i cannot see which program belongs to which user. 2. i am unable to switch users as well, as in start, log off, switch user. any help would be appreciated.

Well, I would think the answer is obvious, you're friend was a little over zealous when he disabled your services. Some of the services he disabled control that. So go back in there and enable them. If you don't know which ones they are you might just have to go with some trial and error, because I don't know exactly which ones they are. At one point I knew them all but it's been awhile since I messed with the core system services. You should never really disable them.

I believe the one for user switching is called "fast user switching compatibilty" and then one which shows usernames in taskmanager is most likely one of the com+ things, but I'm really not 100%.
