    Hi All,

I am not going to start by saying I am a genius when it comes to computers, but I have tried everything I can think of when it comes to this problem!

    Here we go:

I am getting the dreaded 'Blue Screen of Death' when trying to load up my Unfortunately dated computer..

I have tried to run in all options such as Safe Mode etc etc... I have even checked my BIOS settings to ensure the correct boot method is chosen..

The problem I would have thought is due to the 'Start up' drivers not functioning properly, however, can't get into the PC to restore from a previous date..

Can anybody shed any light as to what they would do in this situation?

    Many thanks and kind regards
    Mr C. O. N. Fused!

I'm not sure that I totally understand what your situation is, are you able to boot and get to safe mode and then you continue to the BSOD. If you can't restore to a previous date, check to see if your system restore is running. You can try running Win XP Setup Wizard from the install CD.
You then can choose the repair option. The other option was to try it in the safe mode but you have already done that.
The next step is to try the Recovery Console to try and figure out whats going on w/ windows, your system or boodt partition or the disks MBR. The commands are very Dos-like for lack of a better term.
That's all I know to do, as you're pretty close to the land of nr and the old sys restore..... been there done that all too often. I'd like to know who said GIGO, cause I swear I'd punch him in the mouth.
Good luck and I hope the helps. And remember I am a complete moron.
    Take care,
    cal:major

I am able to load the computer to the safe mode screen, but when trying to load any further using the Safe Mode options I get the 'Blue' screen and it literally turns off the computer and restarts... Putting me back to square one..

Unfortunatly I do not have my Windows CD so not able to boot it using that...

If you can borrow an xp cd....start the install (boot to the cd) ...after it loads the drivers..exit the install ...see if it will boot then.
