I found a similar post here:

However, my motherboard does support 512mb chips. It's a Dell Dimension Desktop 2350, Intel 845GL chipset, supports PC2100 266mhz DDR SDRAM (which is what I bought), and has memory capacities of 128, 256 and 512mb. The bios recognizes the ram, but Windows will not start with the chip in there.

    Any suggestions?

The one thing i can only think of is the memory you bought is either bad or your mobo will not play nice with it..It does happen from time to time were new memory will not work depnding on make, so if you have another computer you can try the new memory in to see if it works fine, if it does then maybe change the brand for your own comp..

A quick thing you might also try is clearing CMOS. You would have to look in your motherboard manual to see which jumper you need to short, but for the second it takes, I would say its worthwile trying before Scouse's excellent suggestions.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll try them at lunch and see what I can figure out.

    Thanks

Thank you both for the help! I reset the cmos and sure enough it accepted the RAM right away. It was great! Thanks again!
