So you click on your username icon, then it acts like it's going into Windows, but doesn't?

Is there more than one username? Does it happen on all user names?

I had same issue. When you load up the computer its black screen with the sentence. Cant not find diskette floppy disk or something like that. I had to go into the bios blue area window.. and scroll down to (something about when loading) anyways there on the right is some things that load and search for when starting a computer.. I disable the floppy disk one. And restarted and worked.. Oh yeah I am no exspert and I had same windows xp with Dell pc and so I was just posting something maybe to try.

Silas mentioned it, but now that I know it's happening on both users, sounds like the boot sequence is jacked and going to a floppy first.

You will need to go into your BIOS as stated, find a section dealing with Boot devices and their order. You need to set your hard drive as being first to boot to, and if possible, disable the floppy.

    Let us know.

ok i agree with you guys on the "going into your bios and changeing the boot device order" but thats not going to salve his windows problem, the not loading into windows is the windows its self sounds like you have corrupt or missing windows files. you kneed to take and boot from a windows cd and insted of installing choose the repair my copy of windows.and that should fix it. but youll have to be in safe mode to get in to do this, have you tried to boot into safe mode??:confused

running in safe mode doesnt work. i changed the boot sequence and disabled the floppy drive as i dont even have one. now am trying to reinstall xp from the disk.

well that will definatly fix that problem...if you have more than one computer i would take the hard drive out of the one messing up and put it in the other so you can get any saved data you might want, befor putting windows on it. if u can.:major
