   In win xp ( home ) when i click to open a file I get the search mode for that folder in stead of the file comtents. I know I setup the folders wrong or did something else but for the life of me I can not find it. I am a newby to this forum but not to computers.

   Im guessing your in Windows Explorer, so go to tools - folder options.
   
   In there you can tell it to show details, etc and apply to all folders.
