I have a gaming computer, that has Win XP. I just purchased Win 7, Can i install Win 7, and not loose any of my files. Or would i have to re format.

Here is a step by step tutorial from Microsoft for upgrading to Win 7 from XP: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/help/upgrading-from-windows-xp-to-windows-7.

One of the steps guides you through using Windows Easy Transfer, which allows you to store files on another location on your computer. Otherwise, you'll have to back them up on an external device.

Generally speaking, when upgrading from XP to 7, you cannot save your games/programs/applications and have them fully functional in Windows 7. You can save your pictures, music, documents, and stuff like your Internet Explorer (or Firefox/Opera/Chrome) favorites. Hopefully you used Firefox in WinXP since it is VERY easy to completely migrate your entire profile (including shortcuts and plugins) from one FF install to another....

.... keep in mind that I did NOT read any of the info in the link posted above by LauraR and it may negate everything I said above about not being able to move programs, games, etc....
