I have WinDVD 4.0 on my computer, it was already on the computer when I bought it. Now I want it gone but I cant seem to uninstall it. I've tried updating to a newer version but I keep getting the same error messages. Here's what they say...

    Internal Failure: Error number: 0x80040707

Then this error message comes up...

Severe: Missing setup required files, please install with the original installation disc (0x0002).

So whether I try to reinstall, uninstall, or upgrade to a different version, I keep getting the same error messages. But I dont want it anymore.

I'm running Windows XP. If you need anymore information please let me know. Thanks for any help.

Try a 3rd party uninstaller like mgUninstaller or something similar. You could also just delete the folder from Program Files, and delete the shortcut. When you go to Add/Remove programs after removing the program folder, click on remove for WinDVD and you should get an error that allows you to remove the program from the list. It's not the best way, but it'll work. You could then use a reg cleaner (CCleaner or RegScan (I think it's called RegScan)) to remove the leftover registry entries....
