WinExplr, open it differently?

Stupid question... not a big deal... just annoying.

Is there a way to make Windows Explorer open to C expanded, or My Computer expanded and NOT My Documents?
I NEVER enter My Documents through W Exploere, but ALWAYS open My Computer... and USUALLY then go to C, Program Files, Downloads (self created folder... keeping my junk in one place for easy recovery.)

The easiest way that I can think of is to add a shortcut to the C: drive on your desktop (or on a toolbar) that you can right-click and select 'Explore'

There is also a method for having shortcuts to Windows Explorer (particularly the one in the start menu) open at a different default location. You can do this by following the instructions at this link. Do note that this doesn't seem to work for the Windows key + e hotkey, or the 'Explore' context menu.

 

You didn't state what O/S you're running (98 - XP).

There seems to be some typo's/ommisions from the above link (plus it's for XP only).

Right click on the Properties (for the Explorer shortcut), Shortcut Tab, and change the highlighted area (Target box) to:

[Windows 98]
C:\WINDOWS\EXPLORER.EXE /n,/e,C:\
This shows C: expanded.

[XP]
List your drives with NONE expanded.
C:\WINDOWS\EXPLORER.EXE /e,/root,::{20d04fe0-3aea-1069-a2d8-08002b30309d}
[Use this, then choose VIEW - Details (w/ "Remember view" settings engaged)]

or

C:\WINDOWS\explorer.exe /e
This shows C:\ expanded.
