I know this subject has been discussed before, but I have tried everythat that I, a mostly computer illiterate teenager, can do.

Problem: Since I set up the Windows XP Home edition (came installed on the computer) firewall, WinMX will not download music. I can search, but when I click to download it and go to the transfers, it says

    File Error>(5)"Access to C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\My Documents\My Music\_INCOMPLETE_blahblahnameofsongblahblah.mp3 was denied."

The first time it did this, I was like, no problem. I went back to the Microsoft website that originally turned on my firewall, poked around until I found out how to open ports in the firewall. There were two port options for WinMX, TCP 6699 and UDP 6257. I followed everything the website told me to do. I did the TCP one, and when that didn't work, I changed it to the UDP one, then just for kicks I put both up.

Still doesn't work, after restarting WinMX and the computer and such. Poked around on the internet some more, found this board, searched for WinMX, and was lead to a website called MX Central, which one user said had a lot of WinMX help and info. I found what I was looking for there, about the ports and stuff, and it said the exact same thing that the Microsoft website had said. I went back and made sure that everything was set up exactly as it was supposed to be. It is. The MX Central site also says that TCP 6699 and UDP 6257 are the default ports for WinMX users, and if I had changed my ports in my settings I should change my firewall to coincide, etc. So I went and checked my settings in WinMX. In "Incoming TCP Connections" it was set on "Unable to accept incoming TCP connections" so I left it like that. Under "In/Out UDP Packets" it is set on "Unable to send or receive UDP datagrams on any port" so I left it like that.

I'm at a loss for what to do. I just wanted some music. Sigh.

If it is of any interest, I'm also running CookieCop2 and it had me change some proxy settings in Internet Explorer. I tell you exactly what I had to do with all that if you need me to.

Help with this issue would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance, all you wonderful computer-knowledgeable people out there!

Okay, where do I set it for port 80? TCP or UDP? In WinMX and my firewall? Sorry, like I said, I know next to nothing about computers. Slowly learning as I fix different issues with the stupid thing, but I'm still not that computer literate. Thanks for your help!

Never mind. It started working again. I don't know what I did. Frankly, I don't want to know that sort of technical stuff. But I poked around in the settings wizard and such and now it works. So yeah. Thanks for your help!
